Empowering Males of Color: Mentoring Through Literacy Kickoff

More than 300 people packed the room at our Howard University event on Monday night kicking off the Empowering Males of Color: Mentoring Through Literacy program to recruit 500 mentors for 500 students. Attendees heard from DCPS Chief of Innovation and Research Dr. Robert Simmons, Howard University President Dr. Wayne Frederick, Councilmembers Grosso, McDuffie, and Nadeau, and Mayor Muriel Bowser, who announced that the DC Police Department would partner with EMOC to have cadets serve as mentors to our young men of color.
