Parent-Student Orientations
(OPEN, DROP-INS WELCOME)
FUTURE DATES:
TBD: March, April, May, June
All PSOs are held at the Mentors, Inc. office in the conference room.
The Parent-Student Orientation is a time when parents/legal-guardians and their teenager can learn more about the mentor-matching process at Mentors, Inc. The primary goal of the orientation is to aid the teenager with his/her decision to move forward with the enrollment process. It is also a time for parents to learn how they can best support their teenager after the match happens. Specific topics that are covered during the Parent-Student Orientation are:
- History & Mission of Mentors, Inc.
- Reasons Mentors are Needed
- Mentor-Matching Process
- Challenges & Rewards of Being in a Mentoring Relationship
Parent-Student Orientations are typically held twice a month in the Mentors, Inc. conference room and typically occur on a week day between 5:30pm and 7:00pm, or on a Saturday morning between 11:00am and 12:30pm. Upon request, orientations can be held in a school auditorium or in a conference room at a community-based organization. The dates of orientations change monthly, so those interested in attending should contact a Program Manager to learn more or visit the calendar on the Mentors, Inc. homepage.
